For our four year anniversary me and Jason took some friends to Kauai. What can I even say? Kauai was even more lovely then Oahu, I really want to live there...it was so wonderful. It was a very perfect end to the summer.

It was just so wonderful. We explored mountains, caves, oceans, forests and did some shopping. There are chickens everywhere on the island! We saw fish, seals, geckos and turtles and even swam with them! The worst part of the trip was that we had to leave, but I hope we go back soon.

Overall I adored this summer, I had some really big shows, one where I got to sell my artwork to the public schools! I had the time to spend with my friends and tan, swim, shop, eat, drink and go for long walks. I also had two really exciting trips to Kauai and Japan. It's always a heartbreaking feeling when the summer ends, I think even more so living in Seattle because the summer drags on so long I always start to feel it just wont end. Now I'm back to teaching, taking a year off school before my Masters but still taking all those tests and doing al those applications! gah!

I have a few ideas for photos I'l have to start taking soon, maybe get some more practice in with other people and get some new shows lined up. Halloween is right around the corner which I'm off course excited about and I think me and some friends are going to plan and warm winter trip--maybe to Thailand, to make the winter more bearable. Thats all for now until I do some new work!
Until next time,
~Bridget

What an absolutely amazing show! All the work was so good and well done, the museum looked lovely, and the crowds were really large! Jason and I got to dress up, see the work and have some drinks. My friends and family got to come and I even sold one of my pieces! It was bought by the pittsburgh public schools so I can only wonder where it might end up hanging :) It was a great and exciting night to see my work in the museum, and watch others look at them. The reactions seemed very good, I was around as a large group of gay men gawked at my sold print and told each other how "gorgeous the woman in the photo was." An old man also saw me standing near my photo and casually smiled at me and said, "Don't worry, you're better than all this." Than he paused and looked back me after seeing my photo and said "Oh wait, you are this!" Just an utterly wonderful night, I'm glad I could make it in to see it, and soon i'll see my work over at the Silver Eye Gallery :)

I recently got back from a week in Japan, it was such an amazing experience! I got to see Tokyo, Asakusa, Narita, Shibuya, and Oeno. It really was lovely and my pictures don't do these places justice.

The beginning of my exploration very early one morning after we had rested. I look (and felt) so accomplished to have made it out there.

We stayed in Asakusa most of the time which was a gorgeous little down by the river. I loved it there most of all, it was quiet and safe and actually reminded me a lot of Olympia. We spent our early morning walking along the water watching the boats and eating our snacks we would get at the corner store, and then took the train to the busier areas.

Walked the streets, saw lots of shrines, temples, parks and did lots of shopping. The most interesting shop was where they sold the fake plastic food that they sell to all the restaurants for their display windows, it was very cool!

Visited Oeno park and zoo, which i think has the largest pond in the world, and if it's not it was huge non the less! Also got to see Shibuya's street crossing which may also be the largest in the world, and if not it was a strange feeling to be in the crossing, it felt like a salmon going against the current upsteam.

Stayed a few days in Narita as well, and i've never seen anything so green! It was the rainy season, but my goodness, again, this picture doesn't do it justice. We stayed in a little place in the middle of miles of rice patty feilds and farm land and got to wander the streets, it was very beautiful.

And, to be expected, the ads were amazing.

Japan was lovely and I hope I can go back one day. I've been enjoying the summer immensely, going to the lake with my friends (i got an inflatable pirate ship which has been amazing!) and tubing down the river too. Been able to relax a little, working quite a bit as well, shopping, and traveling. Next week is my show at Carnegie Museum which will be so exciting to see.
Until next time,

This summer has been so great so far! I finally get a chance to relax now that school is over! My goal this summer was to get a tan for the first time in my life, and everyday I have off I've been spending in the sun, going to the lake, tubing down the river, and picnicing with friends. I finally have a pretty good tan, yesterday after the fourth kinda of turned it to an all over burn, but soon it will be a tan too! :)

All my burns! hah

I was inspired by the Hoff :P

This summer I'm in two really exciting shows, both for my photography. The Silver Eye and the Carnegie Museum, both in Pittsburgh! I'm am so excited to have been selected for these shows not only because both the gallery and museum are a big honor but they've both meant so much to me in my life and while I was growing up. I spent hours at the Carnegie Museum, especially as I got older, wandering those large halls and staring at the work as I thought about my life. I spent so much time at the museum it became like a second home at times. I didn't spend as much time at the Silver Eye, only because it was smaller, but I loved it there as well. When I was in high school I started doing my own artwork more seriously and staring at the museum walls and wishing I could see my own work on it. I wanted to prove to myself I was talented enough, and I wanted to see my name on the wall, knowing that I had finally made a dream come true. These last few months i've been working on pieces and framing works in hopes my two dreams might happen this summer, and this last week I found BOTH places had accepted me and my work! I'm so excited about these, it will be such a thrill to walk the floors I used to wander and be able to see my own work, my name printed and see the faces of others looking at my work as well :)

I can't wait to attend my receptions, pick out something pretty to wear, and to enjoy my small dreams coming true.

I'm so happy I finally have time to take pictures again! I got a second light (a ring flash this time), Lightroom 2 and Photoshop CS4 a little bit ago but haven't gotten a chance to really learn how to use them until the last few weeks, I love using it all, I can't wait to take pictures of other models! :)

This break was amazing, lots of time to relax and recoup from the stresses I had, and I think next semester (MY LAST SEMESTER!) will be much better. I will have to make sure to take more pictures, they make me happy. I have a lot of ideas I hope I can put together over the next few months.

And of course a funny one,

I think I forgot (or am learning?) how beautiful I find black and whites, and I like how they are turning out. I hope I can start taking more pictures of other people and things as well, I like my self portraits but it's starting to get tiresome and I hope I can find some other models in the coming months.

Also, I think I work better in life when I have an outrageous goal to work towards. My whole life (up until it came true) my goal was to live by Seattle, be happy and be an artist. (Looking back I don't know why or how that became my goal, it just did) and I don't think people realize how big of a dream that was to me or how far fetched it was to me at the time, I had no means, support or help in making that dream a reality, but I worked really hard and I finally feel that those dreams are a reality, and maybe every now and then I should feel gratitude for how far I have come. I made it to Seattle,I go to the school I wanted, i'm in gallery's and museums and I really am the happiest i have been in my whole life-even if i am stressed sometimes. But for the past year or so I haven't had any more dreams to achieve, I haven't been working towards anything, just working. I have a vague idea that i'll teach and keep doing art and make money..hah..but it's all very vague, which is fine but I think I need another large dream to see me through when I have no idea what to work for, so,
I do have in a few months;
Graduation!
Jersey shore to hopefully see my grandmother
Kauai vacation with my friends!

In the next year I MUST:
See this big pink bunny and picnic on top of it http://www.gelitin.net/mambo/index.php?set_albumName=album14&option=com_gallery_proj144&Itemid=91&include=view_album.php

And in the next 10 years I will make sure:
To have a billboard in NYC (or LA) that I photographed-even if I physically go and put it up myself.

Hopefully I will have many more pictures very soon, it makes me happy just to take them :)
Until next time,

~Bridget
